Morphological researches of sea and freshwater trout

The paper contains the analysis of the influence of such important factor as the salinity of sea water on the morphology of trout rearing in the conditions of artificial reproduction. The authors have compared the properties of sea and freshwater trout of the same age. The positive influence of the salinity of sea water on morphology of trout has been shown.

Biochemical investigations of some Barents Sea commercial fish species in the conditions of man-made pollution

The data of biochemical investigations (period 1998-2003) of some Barents Sea commercial fish species for estimating the status indicator of hydrobionts as components of water ecosystems of the Kola North in the conditions of man-made pollution have been considered in this paper. The analysis of the data has shown seasonal nature of the dynamics of the basic chemical characteristics' contents (water, total protein and amine nitrogen, water-soluble protein, lipids, mineral) and biochemical properties (the activity of proteases) of fishes. The native data have been compared with the previous data of the laboratory of hydrobionts biochemistry of the Polar Research Institute of Marine Fishery and Oceanography by N.M. Knipovich.

Research of chitinolythetic activity in digestive organs of hydroinvertebrates of the Barents Sea

The investigation results of phytoplankton photosynthetic pigments and species composition in the southern part of the Kola bay in the winter-vernal period have been presented. The maximal chlorophyll Р° concentration during hydrological winter in the surface layer reached 0.043 Вµg/l, in spring - 0.159 Вµg/l. In the bottom layer this index was 0.043 Вµg/l, in the vernal period - 0.119 Вµg/l. On the basis of chlorophyll Р° concentrations, pheophytin Р°, Margalef index and carotenoids/chlorophyll Р° ratio - the indices of the phytoplankton physiological state - during the observation period phytocenosis possessed low photosynthetic and production activity. Low abundance and biomass of micro-algae have corresponded to the conclusions. The active functional state of phytoplankton community during the Polar night and lack of typical for the Barents Sea coastal zone early-vernal micro-algae blossom peak in the southern part of the Kola bay have been explained by the development peculiarities of the estuary pelagic phytocenosis.

The ecobiochemical hydrobionts' researches – an important direction for solving the problem of preservation of the Kola North ecosystem biodiversity

The paper contains the results of the research of the Chlamys islandica accumulation in the water ecosystems of the Barents Sea, namely the calculation of its distribution. The age composition of the bivalved mollusks on the Severo-Kanin bank has been analyzed as well.

On the chemical content dynamics of tissues of cod family Gadidae during the storage under low temperatures (–28?С)

The paper considers the main directions of the researches concerning reservation of biodiversity of marine and limnetic ecosystems of the North as a necessary condition of their normal functioning. The necessity of ecological and biochemical monitoring of the hydrobionts, particularly marine and limnetic fish at different stages of their life cycle has been determined. The data on biochemical changes in fish tissues during storage at low temperatures have been given, the urgency of the comparative analysis of chemical composition and biochemical properties of fish cultivated artificially and living in natural conditions has been shown. The results of hydrochemical research of marine and limnetic water reservoirs of the Kola North and the role of different biochemical markers for determination of antropogenic impact on hydrobionts' tissues have been analysed.

Research of seasonal, sexual and species differences of white muscle bioenergetic state of cod and plaice

The comparative multilevel quantitative investigations of the brown algae morphophysiological parameters have been carried out on the Kola Bay littoral influenced by the anthropogenic pollution gradient. Algal dimensional and age-specific structure has been investigated on the organism, population, and community levels. Special significance has been devoted to the seaweed’s surface area and specific surface area measurements as morphophysiological parameters connected with metabolism of algae. The multi-parameter reaction of algae is possible to describe as a system adaptation to the chemical pollution gradient. The results can be used for the littoral ecosystem express environmental monitoring.

Peculiarities of photosynthesizing activity of Pinus sylvestris L. tree needles in coniferous forests of the Kola Peninsula

A research of photosynthesizing activity of Pinus sylvestris L. tree needles has been carried out for coniferous forests in the Kola Peninsula. An estimation of СЃhlorophyll (a+b) and carotenoid concentration in needles has been presented. The general laws of pigment accumulation process in needles have been revealed and certain adaptive changes to the extreme conditions of the Kola Peninsula at the level of photosynthetic processes have been considered.

Basic tendencies of changing hydrochemical parameters of the Kola Bay aquatic ecosystem in 2000-2011

The results of hydrochemical monitoring of the aquatic ecosystem of the Kola Bay have been presented in the paper. The data of changing content of nitrite, nitrate, ammonium nitrogen, phosphates, ions of iron, silicon have been discussed. Contemporary methods of analysis have been used. The main tendencies of changing these hydrochemical parameters depending on different factors have been analysed.
